A Long Winter

In the high Pyrenees, amid snow‑heavy slopes and bitter cold, young Miquel returns home after completing his military service. His younger brother—Jordi—is due to leave shortly for his own service, and their mother, already fragile, seems to be slipping further into despair. One morning, after yet another heated argument with her husband, she walks away from home. She does not come back.
